@recliner9876 The first German national anthem (or royal anthem) was "Heil der im Siegerkranz", and it used the same tune.
Heil dir im Siegerkranz,
Herrscher des Vaterlands!
Heil, Kaiser, dir!
Fühl in des Thrones Glanz
Die hohe Wonne ganz,
Liebling des Volks zu sein!
Heil Kaiser, dir!

Many were British tunes, stollen by the americans, and they put their own lyrics to them. Yanky Doodle was played by the british to make fun of the american army. todays american anthem was taken from an old Brish drinking song in the 1812-1815 war.

Awesome Video! I really enjoyed the clips of the Vincennes reenactment... I live not too far away from there and went this year. I ended up joining a US Dragoon unit out of that... are you involved with the NWTA at all? :-)
