You need to have ammonium filtering system for your Salt fish tank. It usually consists of three separate small tanks below the main tank. These tanks contains some materials i'm not familiar with it. It gets rid of ammonium (which looks like a dark brown liquid) from the main tank and that makes it possible for the sea fish to survive in better environment !

Dont cycle your tank with any fish or inverts. Worst idea. Buy yourself a cocktail shrimp from the market and throw it in and leave it there for 3 days or so. then add LR. You will have diatoms in 3 days and your cycle will start.
