I uploaded this video recently which was taken from the latest CD release from the legendary Connemara singer John Beag.

It was a song written by Bidín Phádhraig Ua Chlocharta about the village of Carraroe. It relays memories of turbulent times in the history of this country. The people of Carraroe played a significant part in the fight for freedom.
They were the first people who rose against the land lords during the period of the 'Land Leaguers'. This song was given to me by Bidín's daughter, Mairéad Uí Chonghaile from Bóthar Buí, Carrore.

I hope you enjoy listening to this fine song from a fine singer !

  • Cá bhfuil is féidir liom an CD seo a cheannach? Where can I get this CD? Níl aon amhráineoir eile ar nós John Beag.

  • @MockingTrout well i know it hasn't been put on the web for purchase at this stage. I was lucky enough to get it sent over to me from some friends in Rosmúc who got a copy of it when it was launched a few months back. There is a shop in Galway that has them, if I find out any more info I will let you know.
