Pardon my saying so :-) but I don't see how he's doing it any different than the usual way. I don't doubt he's THINKING of it differently -- but I don't hear any difference. And he doesn't describe or explain how it's any different.
I'm astonished that people seem to be buying it. Does anyone really hear what he's doing that's different?
Also I believe he's mistaken that there's any problem with the usual way, or any significant school of thought that the usual notation represents any "flaw."
As far as I know, Randy Bachman (of Guess Who and BTO fame) was checking into making a recording of this version of Sonata #32 (Op. 111), back in 2006. I have not heard anything since, so I wonder if the lawyers deemed the change not significant enough to warrant a "New Discovery" and hence the justification to record a classical piece breaking the mold, with an unknown musician from Salt Spring Island.
I like his interpretation, and agree with keeping the 9/16 rhythm throughout the "Arietta."
I just saw Paul's movie on APTN tonight. It was truly amazing. One of the best docs I have ever seen. Congratulations to Paul and to his film crew for producing a magnificent piece.
My curiosity has been piqued. A sort of who done it right. I hope it is released in the southern hemisphere. is there a Jack russell conspiracy that i ought to know about?
so where the heck can somebody who missed it on Bravo SEE the whole thing??? Heck, I'd be willing to buy a copy....

The production value is phenomial! Is that Bob and Bob's spawn in the boat? Can't wait to see the doc in spring!
