Oh come on FFS leave something for the rest of us!! How the hell is someone like me supposed to do something that looks remotely impressive when you guys keep turning out shit like this! FUCK!
@onemomentpls Yea thanks, that is what I concluded when I actually took some time to think it through. I guess the length of the reverse pendulum in this case is probably chosen to compliment the strengths of the automatons used.
@onemomentpls sorry, slip of mind. it should be rise time, not settling time. :O To minimize oscillatory behavior though, ideally the settling time should be shortened.
@TheStigma there's a tradeoff between shorter and longer pendulums. A short pendulum will tip faster, but require a shorter transverse movement to compensate. A longer pendulum will tip slower, but require a larger transverse displacement. This necessitates the need for the settling time of the controller: whether it requires a faster response or not.
@Curbulpl0x Hmmm, you are right when I think it through. I just kind of assumed longer would be harder - but now that I think about it I guess a longer reverse pendulum translates into less need for very small precise movement in favor of bigger ones - so in a sense that might be easier - at least until you get to the point where your own maximum movement speed becomes an issue.
amazing vid!

what kind of motors do you use?

@TheStigma um, the longer the pendulum is, the easier it gets?

good sensors you have there!

very impressive. most humans aren't very good at that game themselves - atleast with such a long reverse pendulum
