The Helium Kids perform XTC's 'Respectable Street' at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA on January 18th, 1995.

This was the first tune of the night. The lighting and sound starts out a bit rough but is eventually resolved mid way through the song.

Band Members: Brian Poole (The Late B. P. Helium, Of Montreal, Elf Power) - guitar and vocals, Doug Stanley (The Glands, Love Tractor) - guitar and vocals, Mike Gerfen (Labrea Stompers, Go Figures) - bass and vocals, John Crist (Dashboard Saviors, Bell Weather, Missing Numbers)- drums.

Meh..... Helium kids did it better. The vid i saw of the Pikers, the opening riff was the wrong chording. Sorry, fellas.

  • I'd die happy if I could see a video version of "Respectable Street" by Harrisburg PA's Pikers, (Shawn and Shea Quinn, Darrel Beam, Frank Shaffner, Kurt Hassinger) circa 1981, recorded at Li'L Joes nightclub on Derry Street.

    They KILLED it,

The Helium Kids are OK, and it's always good to see bands covering monstrously important material like XTC...

But the Pikers were WAY better at it.

Pikers fans? Click on my user name and send me a note if your remember...

  • With so many horrible covers posted on YouTube its great to actually see a good one! Well done!

  • That was pretty damn good. Nice job. Especially for a song as complicated and hard to perform as Respectable Street.

  • Awesome! As good a performance of this song as I've seen! You need to put the band back together, post haste, and come sort of near Minneapolis. I WILL BE THERE!
