the problem with this stereo type is that though it; s a situation comedy and certainly a baffon is needed , at the same time normal level headed blacxks were use d to drown out the fact that they were trying to pin the mental image of Stepin on a whole group

This is a direct attempt to minimize the intellectual abilities of african americans. Back then white people were very insecure about their own culture they resorted to criticism to make themselves feel racially superior. I am more upset with my people for taking part in such films that they knew would have a devastating effect on the african american communities. Stepin Fetchit has no place on my wall of fame; however, i do appreciate the historical context of ' white entertainment'.

I hear U FAM!!! However if they never did these types of pictures some of us would think this time period of hatin on blacks never existed or to even have the reflection of whats going on in todays entertainment environment......I totally agree with barlog20...Black artists of today are the new Stepin Fetchit...like J-Z,50 CENT,P-DIDDY...Now what kind of name is P-DITTY? Thats definitely has COON qualities to that name...PEACE!!
