Ok if all of this technology is just sitting around in plain sight waiting for any dufus to put it together, why did Apple beat everyone with the Apple II, first commercially available GUI, iPod, iPhone & iPad?

All of the above products have one thing in common, Steve Jobs. Neither a mock-up in a lab, a theory sitting on paper or others failed attempts magically transform themselves into those successful products. It takes vision, intelligence, organization and balls to make all of that happen.

Because all businesses aren't the same, and sometimes being abrasive doesn't get the results you need. Apple is a prestigious company where you can always find new people to hire because people WANT to work for you. With other companies that don't have this prestige it'll be hard to be a dick and successful at the same time.

In short, don't be a dick if you can't get away with it.

Who cared about how well this business is organized unless iPhone became so popular and who cared about it when Apple was close to bankruptcy.
