An old video I dug up a while ago, when I was recording the Sonic Riders videos, is one that I did of Super Sonic. Now, there are 16 characters and 16 courses, which meant I could easily assign every character to a stage. The thing is that Sonic, while he counts as one character, has two different forms.

To unlock Super Sonic, you must get the highest rank in each of the missions. I believe it's an A-Rank, but it's been so long since I played those missions that I've forgotten. (EDIT: It's called the Gold Rank.) To access him, select Sonic and scroll through the Gear until you reach Chaos Emerald. (No, he doesn't ride on a Chaos Emerald. I have no idea why it's called this.) Obviously, only Sonic can go Super in this game.

I've chosen Dark Desert because it's my favorite course in the game and because it's easy to maintain a high Ring total. Super Sonic begins with 30 Rings and loses Rings as he goes. (That's how Super Sonic works; the Chaos Emeralds activate his powers and he uses Rings as fuel.) He has no Air gauge--instead, you must watch his Ring count very carefully, since if it reaches 0, Sonic goes back to regular Sonic and will be footing the race until he can find at least 1 Ring to turn him back.

Using Rings as fuel instead of Air is a serious handicap, since the usual methods of replenishing Air, such as pit stops, riding turbulence, and control stick rotation events, don't replenish Rings. Air monitors are also entirely useless. This is made up for by, well, him being Super Sonic. He has high to max stats in everything and has the powers of Speed, Flight, and Power all at once, meaning he can exploit any shortcut he wants. However, drifting rapidly drains him of Rings, so it's best after you've memorized the course and know how to drift as little as possible. Super Sonic also cannot take damage or lose Ring from attacks, so at least you know your Rings aren't going anywhere...just vanishing.

  • How u get him

  • @tokyopop11221 Get the Gold rank on all of the missions. I have a video of each mission where I get the Gold rank--follow the annotation at the end.

  • Is Rank X better than SS?

  • @HeliPotter2000 Yes, it's the highest rank you can get for a trick in this game.

  • Is It really that hard to get Super Sonic?

  • @kmml1972 Personally, no. But that's because it's mostly about figuring out what to do, which is the sort of thing you don't encounter in Sonic games too much.

  • hei go super sonic hero

  • God, Super Sonic takes a lot out of this game, in all..

You must complete 100 missions with Gold Rank

Finish Both Grand Prix with Gold Rank, meaning you have to get 1st in every stage.

The only reason I've gotten this far is because of you're walkthroughs. I would have given up without a little help by now.
