The cockroach is an oriental cockroach. she has been exposed to diatomaceous earth and it is clinging to her body. Roaches are charged negatively, and DE is positively charged...so all she has to do is walk near it an it will cling to her body. It is a severe irritant to her cuticle and so she cleans it off immediately by the vigorous licking...and thus she ingests it. The DE is a sever drying agent and she will soon die of dehydration.
