    It's all on the receiver to leave room between himself and the sideline. The quarterback can't throw it to the inside or it is an easy interception.

    The QB has to know where the sideline is and keep the ball catchable in bounds if he wants there to be any hope of a reception.

    If he gave more cushion away from the sideline, then it gives his QB a better target to keep the throw inbounds.
