White cedar is a fine wood. We actually use it for all our interior and exterior railings and once stained it looks just like the white pine (wall) logs in our homes. The only negatives is the size of the white cedar logs. They are too small, generally, to make the 8" and 10" logs our customers need to be energy efficient, and the extra expense.
We can special order western red cedar. The trees are larger, therefore it will work for our larger 8x8 and 10x10.
