This is an example of a 20's and 30's fingerwave that is not as complicated as some. For a more deeply 'ridged' effect, waving clips are recommended and we'll utilize those at another time. Thank you Tori for lending me your lovely head, for this tutorial!!
*I realize that I left a good photo of the right side out of the final photos...I'll include that on my facebook page...thanks for watching!

  • What exactly is foaming wrap? Are are there any substitutes for it? (Just in case its hard to find)

  • @dramaindulged It's a mousse that you can use as a setting lotion. Use a flexible hold gel or a spray setting lotion (like Lottabody) if you like.

  • show how you did her makeup!

  • @HotButterOnToast I have. See my 'Clara Bow' tutorial in the Starlet Series, here on my channel. :)

  • my boyfriend and i are going to a 1930s club in LA for our 3 year anniversary and instead of my 1940s look i usually have i wanted to do this BUUUUUT i have betty bangs suggestions on how to get those bangs into the wave?

  • @adg135 I wouldnt bother hiding them. Bangs were worn in the 30's too. Just don't accentuate the u-shape as much. You can even do something like my Clara Bow tutorial and skip the fingerwaving altogether. haha

  • Wow!! Your model is *so authentic looking that it's almost eery seeing her in a modern day setting. She looks straight out of an old black and white photo. She's gorgeous!

Thanks for the tutorial, it really does make it look so easy. My sister and I have a weekly "slumber party", maybe I'll have her help me achieve this!

  • great video. thanks so much! I like how you break down the process and make it seem easy to do. I have seen some vids and I just get lost. I was easily abel to follow your instruction. Of course im very happy since I learned something new. thanks again.

  • Thank you for this! I have been dying to learn how to make an authentic 1920's hairstyle. I'll try it out sometime and let you know what came out :)

  • I've never been able to get the ridges! My compromise is using the long metal duckbill clips to hold the indented parts of the wave in place while pulling the wave area toward my face. All of this done the night before, with Proclaim Super Setting Lotion and a bandana around my head to keep the clips in place. Next time I try fingerwaving, I'm going to try your method because I really want those ridges darn it!

  • @laylafrackiewicz this look isnt really meant for long hair but for Veronia Lake style waves, use this technique and sponge roll or pincurl the ends so the weight of your hair doesnt pull the waves out as they set.

  • i might try this look but i have long hair, any sugestions for my long hair in the back?
