This somehow developed into Super Mario Galaxy 2. I'm pretty sure it did, because of the shodow marios. There were about 128 of them in the same room at one part.

The reason there was so much confusion and conflicting news about the said project of Mario 128 was mostly down to the language barrier from English to Japanese, Miyamoto was constantly asked about Mario 128 which was so named by Nintendo for the tech demo for the GameCube and then adopted by fans after as the name for the next Mario game, so you can imagine the confusion of people always asking about Mario 128 to Miyamoto, as far as he was concerned, Mario 128 was completely different to the n

I know why this game was named Super Mario 128. This is a sequel to Super Mario 64, which is basically game #2. 64 x 2 = 128!
