Rhythm Turner : Hate Crime Survivor

After a gig in Mission Beach on May 14th, 25 year old San Diego musician Rhythm Turner was victim to a brutal attack by a man whose motivations were based in homophobia, leaving Rhythm with two very serious facial fractures and the inability to perform musically. The attacker was arrested for felony assault, but is not currently being charged with a hate crime.

Rhythm needs reconstructive surgery to fix her fractures, but as a full-time student and musician she has no health insurance. If you'd like to help with these costs, please consider a contribution via this paypal link:

@cestdiva There's no hate crime here. The guy was obnoxious for asking them to kiss, but she admittedly got aggressive with him and started swearing at him. He asked her not to speak that way to him or he'd slap her. She then got aggressive & got in his face swearing, so he did slap her with an open hand. Then she lunged at him, and he hit her. Then he was walking away and she ran at him and he hit her again. It's assault, not a hate crime.

The guy is an asshole but this is NOT a hate crime.

I feel so bad for you. Because of the carelessness of some strange, nasty ass man you leave as a victim of hate crime. I can't stress enough how stupid some people are, people die because of crap like this. It's just not fair that people can't love who they wanna love because someone else has a problem with it. You can love who you love and you should be able to love them without all that. I'm sorry what you went through and i hope everything is better.
