It's just a rumor that it's written by Friedrich.

@Myles0Harcourt Totally agreed. Especially because before those 12-13 years, there was already a German Imperial history of nearly 1000 years... People shouldn't let the nazis screw up everything good Germany stood for and stands for...

Germany is a proud country of proud people. Twelve years of unfortunate history should not define a nation seventy years on.

@LuluPolska1 Damn European Nationalist. Please believe in sovereign nations rather than this failed EU project. Zu Eben Und Zu Sterben, Fürs Heil'ge Vaterland!

This melody was part of the state-owned cultural property of Prussia,
the German Empire, and the Third Reich.
However Poland was one of the victorious Allied powers of World War Two
and has the right to claim this cultural property as war reparations.
On behalf of Poland and the Polish people
I hereby claim this melody as war reparations
and rename it as the "European Presidential March"
and rededicate it to the European common domain for use by all Europeans.
Vivat Europa!

Thanks to Prussia and Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben. He is credited with being one of the fathers of the Continental Army and we used his manual until 1812.

@AsteriosAtene I envy you :P
This have nothing to do with WWII or nazis, ia a prussian march, hitler's grand grandfather was far to be born when this march was written.
Friedrich der grosse was a good king, and germany is a nation of culture and philosophy.
May the gods bless EUROPE!
eheheheheh american friends... you may continue envy us :)

Music inspires great passions in people. Besides, all central Europeas have a right to feel a little annoyed about the messy ethnic cleansing and reorder of 1945. A lot of grief and anger remains deeply imbedded in the soil of Germania and a good German song of the days of glory and success can only serve to inflame Germanic pride. Just as we Yankees get teary-eyed to God Bless America. It tis but human...
