DJ FIGMENT ( aka Jesse Hamrick) - Funk Inc Records/ FUNQ/ Sky Lounge - Baltimore, MD, USA

Starting off in the old warehouse party scene of the mid 90's FIGMENT's style was a bit harder and heavily influenced by Chicago House, Baltimore Club, and UK Breaks. Once the style became a seamless blend between genres FIGMENT began making the rounds up and down the East Cost of the US. In late '97 FIGMENT was signed to the legendary K7 Studios. This move escalated FIGMENT into a level of DJ and introduced him to the art of production. In 1999 FUNK INC RECORDS was moved from a "DJ Crew" into a full on Record Label and Studio. Once the label was off the ground FIGMENT and other members of the FUNK INC team began cranking out track after track as well as releasing full length mixes that would showcase the talents and vibe of a live FIGMENT set. Now that he has proven himself as a great road DJ and exciting young producer the next step was to land a residency to provide the ability to grow as an artist and try new sounds to the very loyal crowd. This residency came in the form of Sky Lounge Night Club (Baltimore, MD USA) in 2002. Here is where the Funky, Filtered, Disco, Soulful House sound matured and took root in the House Music community. In 2009, After seven beautiful, hands in the air, sweat filled years FIGMENT took a break from the weekly residency to capture the sound that allowed him to be successful to this point and reinvent himself with a new direction in House Music as well as delivering two crucial full length mixes FIGMENT turned his focus back onto the DJ booth and landed his latest residency at one of America's must stops for all great House Music artists, Red Maple. His new monthly event FUNQ (pronounced Funk) adds another chapter to this one time bedroom, crate digging, pure fan of House Music DJ to prove why he has been able to last this long in a very shaky industry. So when you find yourself getting ready in your apartment and need a shot in the arm you can always rely on an 80 minute tutorial of pure House Music. Also if you're lucky enough to be on the East Coast make sure you find your way to one of FIGMENT's FUNQ events and you will have the chance to become a fan of House Music all over again!

This is the a BIG BEAT SLAMMER that takes u back to the mid 90's!!! The sample that started it all for this one was found in a thrift store which prompted me to buy a children's album that had a theme song for the Boy Wonder...Robin. Add a few additional little gems, distort the big beat...and you have a peak time funky bomb!!!

  • I can't believe he has his own theme. It might actually be slightly better than Batman's theme. I don't get the F-bombs but still pretty good.
