I love this song as my wife died young. i love the live: "you choose the rose, Love! and I'll make the vow." I was wondering if this is just a natural act of love: to give a rose and make a promise of love - or if there is an Irish tradition of presenting a rose when proposing. Im not Irish, but I gave my love when I proposed. RIP Love XXXOOO

He will definitely be missed. I had the opportunity to speak with him at the Cleveland Irish fest a few times, and he was a great man, and the Lord's gift to Irish music. May he rest in peace

I sympathize with you bryan. . A talent like his gone forever will not soon be replaced. A few weeks after Tommy passed.I heard this song again. The lyrics not only tug at the heartstrings they just about break them. Liam sings this as well and at times better than Tommy. God bless them and all the Makems and Clancys. They were God's gift to the Irish for a short while. However their sons and families continue making music and we must support them. too.

This song is just too beuatiful! I keep trying to learn it on the guitar, and I have the chords figured out already, but for the life of me, I can't sing it because I keep getting all choked up! I am an emotional wreck! God, is this song beautiful!

When the boys came on the scene in the early 60's , their energy, talent, love of song and laughter made me prouud to be Irish. Their singing gave me and a whole generation not only irish an appreciation for songs done well. I met Tommy a few times along the way and got over to the Pavilion in New York when he owned it. I went up to Dover to bid him farewell. Tommy Makem, Paddy Clancy, Tom Clancy ,their like will never pass this way again. They were great. Liam is still great.
