The Brass Institute is proud to present its first ever YouTube Video.

This piece is the Valery Polekh cadenza to the first movement of the Gliere Horn Concerto in B flat major op. 91. There have been some liberties taken with the work, such as adding in polyphonic sections.

A note from the performer:
Whereas this performance is not perfect, it demonstrates a few concepts of horn playing that are worth listening to. I hope you enjoy!

For any music students out there of mine seeing this: Practice how I show you, and do as instructed, and this will be how you play. Good Luck!

  • dont suppose you have your interpretation transcribed do you? be a fun summer project for me, lol

  • Nope, but if you'd like to send me a finale copy, I'll check it for you, provided it's not rediculously too much work.

It's pretty much what is on the page, but with pazazz!!

  • this is fantastic and cool!

  • Thanks!!

  • What note interval do you suggest, or which are you using?

  • I both use and suggest using normal two part harmony. Treat it like a duet, or like double stops on the violin.

    Don't just use static intervals.

  • it's basically singing while you play.

  • haha the funny thing is, add 3-4 times MORE vibrato than in this vid and you have yourself authentic valery polekh. always fun listening to your multiphonics
