  • @tarunmunjalny I have a compaq presario cq71 17 incher. when i run dxdiag it only says nvidia, not what specific model it is. which driver do i need to download from nvidias site?

  • @JsNilsen You can either search the net and download "hwinfo32.exe". When you run that utility it will tell you what kind of display device you have installed.

Another way is to go to Compaq's website search for your laptop's specification and check out what you have installed in your laptop.

  • Hi Thank u for the reply. The system is on but screen goes black but not in sleep mode because if I press enter the sleep mode will wake the screen but I press any key it doesn`t happen. So i think there may be some settings in windows 7 may stop.Because a this is a new system the battery should come for more than 5 hrs.

    Help me please....

  • @seeni4u I think your power options are set to hibernate your comptuer. When your screen goes blank to bring it back you have to press the power button. Be careful and don't keep it pressed or it will shut off the computer. If you don't want computer to hibernate then you can change the settings in "Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options" there you will see power plans go to change settings look for an option about hibernate if you dont see it choose "Advance settings".

  • Hi, Thank you for your post. I have a problem with my sony vaio note book. The screen gets off after I disconnect the power cord.I have to turn off the system by force and turn on to use it again. Is there any suggestions from you for this problem?

  • @seeni4u Its hard to tell what the problem without diagnosing it. But it sounds like your screen is giving up. If you can than try the following it would tell if the problem is with the screen or the video card. First I would try to update the Drivers for the video card. If there is still a problem then I would attach an External Monitor and plug off to see if the same thing happens with extrnl mntr too. If yes then the video card might be faulty else your netbook screen might be faulty.

  • Hello. I do have a problem. There is about 1.5 centimeters room on left and right side of my screen and about 1 centimeter on top and under the screen. And the quality of the screen sucks ass.

  • BUT if i do this my battlefield 3 have's a black screeen and a white screen

  • Great instructions! I wasted so much time downloading the wrong driver (my desktop was custom built by my cousin many years ago. The actual video card model was different than the one on the original paper...) My video card was old, and Asus doesn't even have vista driver for it, so I used the XP driver (my first OS for this desktop). It works!

Thank you much for your help!

  • kinda helpful for my problem... good viedo tho

  • i have a problem, my computer screen is sideways! what I mean is that when I f.eks write this right now it "goes up" instead of going right -.- Can anyone help me? please :)
