You will LOVE these easy to cook "beans from the pot." Just need some water, pintos, onion garlic and cumin. Add salt when done. From the Full Plate Diet Road Warrior.

  • Beware of lead poisoning with the clay pots. I really like clay for beans but I prefer my health in order...

  • @RockDoll79 All authentic Mexican beans cooked across the border that fall apart, are the best tasting beans IMHO. Clay pots handle heat differently from ordinary pots. Hence, having to cook the beans longer.

  • They look good and I'm not here to give you bad input or insult your cooking by any means. They are falling apart which means they're a little over-done. They shouldn't be breaking. You don't have to cook them for 4 hours. They generally cook in 2 hours with medium heat (they won't burn :)) not super low. Authentic frijoles de la hoya don't have cumin in them but it's personal preference. All you need is the water, a bit of vegetable oil and onion. Garlic and cumin are personal preference.
