Thats not even close to true. The '60s was the experimental era of stereo recording. Nobody knew what they were doing. The beetles would put the music in the right and the vocals in the left. People went crazy with channel phasing. Entire albums were released with phase-fade (inverted L/R channels causing cancellation) because they didn't know better. Saying everything was recorded mono in the 60s is like saying nobody uses autotune now.
