Jake's Mobile Horseshoeing

There's something magical about watching an 'old world craftsman' like Jake Berreth at work. He's taken top awards away from the Queen of England's Farrier's in recent horseshoeing competitions. Despite the clanging hammer & anvil, sparks flying off the very noisy grindstone, horses are quiet and calm in his presence.

During the shooting and editing process, it occurred to me that there are many people who've not seen this process; for that matter may've not even viewed a horse's hoof closely.

Rather arresting thought when you consider that if the dog is 'mans best friend', then the horse must be regarded as the most vital contributor in the building of our 'civilization'.

I love the video. It shows a horse running free, in the barn getting his horse shoes done, and then being ridden through the pasture afterwards. So much easier than taking the horse in. It also shows how well and effortlessly he does the job. The horse looks so calm with the mobile farrier and in his home surroundings. I almost wish I had a horse so he could come "do its nails."
