  • despite what any of you may say or believe, corporal punishment on ANYBODY is abuse. children are human beings as well as adults. nobody deserves to be hit unless they have murdered or raped somebody, unless they have done someting totally and completely criminal, then fine, thump them. But other than that, there is NO excuse.

  • Dr. Murray Straus is a real hero! He has researched this topic for decades, on tens of thousands of children and adults. If there's an authority he's the one.

Interestingly Dr. Straus hit his own son when he was very young, and one day as he was spanking him he asked himself "why am I doing this?" And he started researching spanking kids. What he has discovered has informed the whole world on the risks of hitting children (aggression, violent crime, sexual problems etc.)

    Good vid and thanks.

  • there is nothing wrong with spanking your kids because honestly grounding your kids doesn't work because when I got grounded I just got creative on how to do the shit I wanted too

  • @GentlemanThunder7 I guess you never got spanked when you were a kid there is nothing wrong with spanking I got spanked and I turned out really good

  • @JessicaMay7 have you faced corporal punishment i have and its not that big of a deal

  • @JessicaMay7 how do you even begin to draw the line with that statement? There ARE excuses. for one thing me and most people i know were spanked when we did something bad and that we knew was bad as we deserved to be. Being spanked simply puts it in your mind that if you are not supposed to do that. it gives you absolutes and builds strong character. not ONCE have i ever come across anyone who had any types of problems because of corporal punishment. i can see you weren't spanked as a child

  • Informal social control? Does it really matter how you control someone?

Self-identity, self-worth and self-esteem are affected in informal control through loss of group approval.

I'm not going to hit you but go commit suicide your not wanted.

    Control is control people.

  • Yyyeeeah, sorry, but thumb down. What they say may well be true, but what is this video for? Just making the claim without substantiating it?

To me this just says "Is spanking your kid ALWAYS negative? Yup, it is. Look, two guys say so."

I repeat, this might be true, and i do want to know (i'll keep investigating), but this video was unsatisfactory.

  • @GentlemanThunder7 cause you MUST EAT GOATSE!

  • @EjPwned So, let me get this straight: You are willing to jeopardize the mental stability and sanity of your own children; you would be willing to scar the mentality of your children, just to subordinate them under you? How is that not child abuse?

  • @EjPwned And there's no way, beyond a shadow of a doubt, to make children behave without the use of physical force? What about the several studies that state that children who are subjected to corporal punishment are more likely to engage in antisocial behavior? Are you really willing to subject a child to that just for the sake of them behaving better in the short-term?
