i was watching espn and they said robert smith maxed out around 650-700 revs

At the Japan Cup he had the most rev's ever!! look at his release... Its incredible..

even if he can't reach as high revs as he used to be able to he is still one of the most powerful bowlers around. well with sarge easter i remember him averaging about 550-575 but could get it into 600s

which is why he had the sarge easter grip in the first place. to get more forward roll so he can still maintain that 600 rpm rev rate (he usually does tone it down to around 450-500) on the longer patterns without an inconsistent snap reaction.

no its just he knows that revs with the new balls that hook so much are sometimes a disadvantage so he tones it down a bit

i bowled against robert a few hours ago, and needless to say, he beat the hell out of me. i thought his rev rate looked high on tv, but its unbelieveable in person.
