This is Sean Flynn of the Vassar College Aikido Club explaining how yonkyo is used in Tomiki Aikido. He starts by explaining it standing, and then how it is used in two suwariwaza (sitting) techniques.

  • every aikido technique comes from swords techniques, so sword fighting is one of the most important basic ok aikido

  • I've used the Yonkyo lock before pressing against the radial nerve and it is pretty nasty devastating manuever.

  • To improve the retrain use the knee to pin while applying the technique.
