@MrThecarebear - At least he realized it, eventually. In fact, he went on record (after Benny's death), saying that firing Benny was the worst mistake of his life.

@MGR1900 - Though he came close to marrying. In the 1950s, he was quite smitten with a beautiful dancer, in a stage show he was in. He proposed, but she turned him down.
That dancer later married someone else, and had a daughter...who also became a performer. Benny hired that daughter to appear on his TV show, and she became quite famous for it.
The daughter's name? Louise English!

This man left us too soon.

@MrThecarebear The bastard known as John Howard Davies died earlier this year, thank god.
The thing i don't get is, he was happy to cancel benny hill, in which he didn't like, but he was happy to of produced far ruder shows like Monty Python and The Goodies. The Goodies is very much like the benny hill show, and unlike benny hill, the goodies actually has a few scenes of full blown nudity, and these are episodes directed and produced by the same man who axed The Benny Hill Show.

John Howard Davies? In 1989, you made one big mistake. One big STUPID mistake.
No wonder ITV is in such dire straits these days.
Benny Hill was a very funny man who died in a very sad way.
