With Robodyssey System's BasicH (H-bridge) motherboard, old remote-controlled toys can become fully autonomous robots. The electronic brain of this Battle Bot was replaced with the BasicH motherboard and a BX-24 microcontroller (by NetMedia). The BX-24 controls the robot's DC motors via the H-bridge. Here, the robot is propelled in random directions.

Most mobile toys and remote controlled cars are powered by DC motors, so imagine the possibilities of programming them to run autonomously. Essentially, you can turn just about any mobile toy into your own autonomous robot!

As mentioned above, the robot's brain is NetMedia's BX-24 microcontroller, which is programmed using the BasicX language. I am the author of the world's only BasicX textbook; if you are interested in learning how to program your own robot, see my website at www.basicxandrobotics.com.

  • Nice bot, did you run a programming language for that bot?

  • This bot is controlled autonomously with the BX-24 microcontroller which is programmed using the BasicX language. I use Robodyssey's H-Bridge motherboard (named the BasicH) to power and communicate with the BX-24.

  • All you have to do is connect the DH power cable to the KNG port and fire up the forward processing ATD's. lol im making this up

  • OK, that must be harder than programming a minigame

  • Pretty cool, would be great to see the connection points for the BasicX to the h-bridge.
