On April 23, the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee of the House Education and Labor Committee hosted a hearing on health care reform proposals that will guarantee access to quality and affordable health insurance coverage for all Americans.
Featured in this hearing was Courtneys H.R. 1558, the Pre-existing Condition Patient Protection Act, which seeks to end the discriminatory practice by insurers of declining coverage for individuals based on health status.
Courtney introduced H.R. 1558 in February with Senator Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia.
As the national debate on healthcare reform continues, Courtneys legislation is expected to play a major role. Thirty-seven Connecticut and national organizations have endorsed the Congressmans initiative.
