Here's some more of my time in 60's Portsmouth Band 'Ritchie Peters and the For-Tunes). The small colour pics are of the lovely Veronica Lake (Jo) our girl singer at the time - probably 1963/4. We teased her rotten - probably because she was better than the rest of us! Most of the grainy pics were taken at a regular dance at Leigh Park Community Centre (dig the crowd - all Grannies by now I'll bet!) around 1965 which was before our R&B phase. Pic of me with red Strat was taken at a gig earlier this year (yes I'm still pickin' - sad bastard!). Couple of reunion pics at the end - first taken about 15 years ago and the later ones last year at our first PDR (Pre Death Reunion). Recording was made in 1967 and was rejected by DECCA as they didn't like the song.......asked us to come back with some of our own songs but before we got the chance our Bass player (John Curtis) was poached by 'Academy' (who went on to become 'Cherry Smash') and that was that. This recording was made on the day of the last For-Tunes gig (Farnborough Town Hall).. Sad eh?
Hi Ron,
Great to be taken back to '60's Pompey.
I just missed you having given it all up for love in '63.
Perhaps some one watching might remember 'Ricky and the TeenBeats' and later 'Danny and the Raiders from 1958 to 1963.
Great times, great fun, great posting Ron. Regards Brian
