Today (10/22/09) community activist/mayoral candidate Al Flowers took it to Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and Don Samuels at the ground breaking ceremony for the new KMOJ-FM studios in north Minneapolis on the corners of Penn and Broadway Avenue North. Watch closely as Al Flowers asks Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak to debate the other mayoral candidates.

CM Don Samuels had a chilling reception as he gave words at the event vowing to "exorcise" the evil out of the community - our questions would be, "Does CM Samuels mean religious or political exorcism? Which will all know that the political exorcism has been going on for years.

Also in this video, you will see WBBAC's Sarita Turner.

We think its great that KMOJ is moving back to North Minneapolis in a deal that took over 4 years and over $150.00 per square foot to do. It's funny, the City of Edina can build a new fire station for less.

Also in attendance we're a few community members who don't have a clue.

**This posting does not support any political candidates running for office in Minneapolis. All though with a special appearance by Fred Flintstone, we hoped to see Wilma and Betty.

  • First issue - You cannot "Advertise" on KMOJ-FM Radio:

    Why Advertise on KMOJ?

KMOJ-FM listeners in the Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN area are waiting to hear from you about your offerings. It is owned by State of Minnesota. The radio station format is urban contemporary music. This station broadcasts at 89.9 FM.

  • IBNN's special support - is not special support. We cover news in the community. Any time Al Flowers is at a public meeting and interrupts that's news. No different from the Star Tribune posting a video. Get over it. Complaint to the campaign finance folks, are you stupid?

  • Mayor Rybak could of addressed all of the mayoral candidates in a forum but has chosen not to. (Good strategy - but costly if he goes after the Gov seat. - people remember.)

  • This is a fine example of the Black community that don't have a clue that KMOJ will soon be a "soft-rock/talk" station.

  • 1) Al Flowers behavior was disrespectful to all those residents of North Minneapolis who wanted to celebrate this occasion. Watching the video everyone tried to ignore him and enjoy the speeches which he so disgracefully interrupted. I doubt he has one supporter in that crowd.

    2) It is obvious the IBNN is providing special support to Al Flowers campaign which has a monetary value. I believe a complaint to the campaign finance board is in order.

  • I must be honest when I say that I have concerns about the direction of KMOJ radio due to what I consider a lack of loyalty to those who laid a foundation for the success of KMOJ in the past. This frightens me greatly because its one of the last voices of the African American community of North Minneapolis. Al may have unusual methods, but don't ignore his facts because of his antics. Al and I have had our own disagreements, but you can not doubt for a moment that he loves this community.

  • @gabeolin I respect the fact that IBNN is showing this. The OTHER news agencies are not reporting and in a democracy all voices are important.
