This is my version of a Hagglund BV-206 all terrain amphibious tracked vehicle which I built using a mixture of Robotics Invention System and Technic parts. I built it after being inspired by this machines capabilities when riding in one.

The batteries were half dead during filming, so performance wasn't the greatest. Usually both units can climb up the bottom parts of walls! Not this time though.

This video demonstrates its flexability and steering, which is provided by the linkage between the front and rear units.

This design has true separate 4 track drive, and steering. all powered by 3 motors.
Controls can be either by infrared remote control, or 3 touch sensors which act as control buttons.

  • I don't care how custom it is...It needs to be MOAR custom.

  • @adam97b

What do you mean by that?

  • Hi, this is awesome ! :)

I like that it has real four-track-drive and working steering.

Got a question though: why is there only one differential used?

Is the steering of a real bv206 working the same as in this model or is it done also with different track speed (like a tank) ?

  • @Maciejzawadzki

I used only one diff because I found that with two, it would get caught up on obstacles and just spin one track on the front and rear, therefore not going anywhere. Basically acting as a diff lock on that unit, keeping drive to both tracks no matter what.

I also got rid of the second diff because I was unable to fit it in with the design of the other unit.

  • wow!

you are a exellent lego builder!

    plase make rc

  • @nvidiafighter33

    Haha, cheers!

I could have made it remote control with two RCX units via infrared, but I couldn't be bothered doing any more programming on it.
