You can still buy a real GT40 MkII with a 427 Roush 500 hp motor. They are built by Superformance under license.

@cookedit except they went to lotus for the chassis design. And it has a truck engine. Still a amazing car none the less

listen that american heart mmmm sweeet

Ford Mk IV 1967 winner 100% American also.

@cookedit Yeah, that is true. Isn't it true that the frame is British on the ac cobra? I thought Shelby said that in an interview. Hey, I don't have a problem giving the credit. The British also gave us the Merlin in WWII for arguably the greatest aircraft OF WWII. The jet of course from Germany overshadows it because of the mere invention of it. But as an aircraft that saw wide deployment the Mustang ruled. Others were great as well, but that thing was MEAN. USA/Britain. Friends I hope forever

@chucknarok the ford finished first for the next 4 years, this one being the first

@astar334 me me me me me !!!!!!!
Henry ford wanted to create a ferrari-killer but no one in the USA had the expertise to create such car so he approach a number of British car developers (fact)!
USA Indy cars are developed in Britain. The Shelby Cobra is based on a British AC chassis and USA's new Supercar the Saleen S7 is developed by Race Team Ray Mallock of the west Midlands. England.
it's good to be proud of your countries achievments but give credit where credits due. Ford GT40 anglo-american. Ford Gt 100% american.

And as far as Ford would have wanted to "continue the ass kicking". This was not possible as the GT40 was outdated and the rules of le-mans had changed by the 1970's.
Besides an even bigger Ferrari killer would soon enter the scene, one that would have Enzo concentrate more on F1 then LM 24hr racing...... Porsche!
Now i dare anyone to compare any other car companys LM record to Porsche. Im not a fan of the Stutgart company but they have my utmost respect. Their record speaks for itself.
