Around the Parish: Dow Awards Grant Money

Nine local organizations were recently awarded nearly $50,000 as part of the Dow Gives program. The St. Charles Parish Community Services Department was awarded $5,000 for its new Literacy Garden Program, which will begin soon at the St. Rose Community Center. The Diamond Award winner of a $10,000 grant was Caring Strategies of Luling's BOOST Program, which provides year-round activities including summer mini-camps, and a new fall dance program for special needs children and their peers. Other grantees included the Hahnville Volunteer Fire Department, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Department, the United Way of St. Charles, Creative Family Solutions, the St. Charles Parish Community Outreach Foundation and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
