I bought some replacement DDR RAM for my computer from the US on Ebay from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/smilentango Unfortunately, they sent me dead memory that doesn't even register as memory when installed! :( Looks like I'm sticking with my 512mb Corsair RAM for now!

Even though this 3200 RAM is apparently "100% Backward compatible to PC2700 / PC2100", it doesn't work on my machine! :(

I get 1 long beep, then 2 short. In other words: "your RAM is broken" or "where is the RAM???"!!!

  • IT IS NOT GOOD TO REPLACE RAM WHEN THE COMPUTER IS RUNNING OR IF IT IS PLUGGED IN OR YOU WILL GET LOTS OF PROBLEMS LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • @3624nathan While it's turned on, definitely yes. Plugged in has never caused any problems for me in the 20-odd years I've been building/modifying them!

  • I have the exact same problem, im going to contact the seller.

  • @happykfc That's what I did. He said it was because it was high density RAM. I returned it for a refund and bought some Kingston RAM second-hand on Ebay instead. It worked great.
