I bought some replacement DDR RAM for my computer from the US on Ebay from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/smilentango Unfortunately, they sent me dead memory that doesn't even register as memory when installed! :( Looks like I'm sticking with my 512mb Corsair RAM for now!
Even though this 3200 RAM is apparently "100% Backward compatible to PC2700 / PC2100", it doesn't work on my machine! :(
I get 1 long beep, then 2 short. In other words: "your RAM is broken" or "where is the RAM???"!!!
IT IS NOT GOOD TO REPLACE RAM WHEN THE COMPUTER IS RUNNING OR IF IT IS PLUGGED IN OR YOU WILL GET LOTS OF PROBLEMS LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!

@3624nathan While it's turned on, definitely yes. Plugged in has never caused any problems for me in the 20-odd years I've been building/modifying them!

@happykfc That's what I did. He said it was because it was high density RAM. I returned it for a refund and bought some Kingston RAM second-hand on Ebay instead. It worked great.
