Larger vessels from this company Ecoceane exist to clean-up efficiently the oil on the surface of water. This technology doesn't help to cap the well but will improve greatly the oil recovery process. Larger boat are capable of recovering 26,000 gal/hr of oil not the mixture of 20% oil/80% water that skimmers recover.

  • i guess something like this is already being used. they said they were skimming off oil...

  • WOW REALLY COOL! Except I don't think it would work in the middle of the ocean. Much less on a large scale. You think the government doesn't already have equipment like this?

How are you going to change the flow of water in the OCEAN so that the machine sucks it up?

How is this thing going to clean up the MASSIVE amounts of oil in the middle of the ocean?

How does this solve the problem of capping the oil that continues to leak out?

This thing clearly isn't the answer or the "silver bullet".

  • This looks very interesting. I shall vote it up on the site.
