Funnily enough the song was written by our drummer, Doktor Dynamite. Who knows from where his inspiration transpires for he is the master of FACTS! Not only regarding Peter Purves but SPAM meat products also!

when he was on blue peter (back in the 60s) I sent him a bread recipe (which they used) and I never ever got my blue peter badge! -even though he used my recipe (and i was a young boy then)..not a nice chap in my view...bringing down a 7 yr olds hopes of getting the bpb!!-Steve

Purves was the one with no sense of humour, was too full of himself, resented having to wear his BP badge, disliked Biddy Baxter directing the show and claimed Petra was 'an awful dog - totally paranoid.'

Well no wonder having him as its assigned owner.

By contrast Shep flourished under the great John Noakes.

Yet to see the three presenters together today you'd think Purves had been the best not the worst of them; trying to dominate interviews, sidelining John and full of sarcasm.
