Here is my hedgehog Quentin during his monthly bath.

He doesn't like it very much, but he needs to be bathed every once in a while because hedgehogs have very dry skin and get really itchy. The best thing to wash a hedgehog with is Unscented Aveeno Body Wash with Colloidal Oatmeal and a toothbrush. Though pretty much any unscented soap thats made for dry skin (these usually contain some form of oatmeal) should work just as well.

As a side note: he is not swimming! He is running on the sink bottom trying to escape, but it's too slippery to get out. The water is only an inch or two deep so he can comfortable stand and get scrubbed.

At least he likes to cuddle in the warm towel afterwards. :)

Quentin is a algerian chocolate colored African pygmy hedgehog.

Quentin was mentioned on Cute Overload!

As a side note on my pet posts, I often get comments about how much people "want one." I encourage you to read up on the proper care and treatment of all of these critters that you want. A pet is not a fashion accessory, collectible, or spur-of-the-moment item, it is a living thing and needs proper care, housing, nutrition, and most importantly attention. It also has hidden costs such as vet bills and food expenses. It is a big responsibility not to be taken lightly.

As a plea for animal welfare I give you this:
If you love hedgehogsand want one, I encourage you to adopt on from a private breeder or rescue one if you can from a shelter or rescue RATHER THAN a pet store. Pet stores support and buy their animals from mass breeders; people who mistreat, abuse, and neglect animals and are only in it for the profit. No respectable breeder would ever sell their animal to a pet store.

  • Can it spin-dash? :D

  • @chocolatehobnob101 Grow up, pussy. If you had read the description you'd know that OP obviously knows what they're talking about. Little kids don't like baths, either, but are you going to let your kid run around without having one for months just because 'it is too mean :('? God damn, stfu.

  • @LPSgurls1231 I admit I was too harsh on the word, sorry about that. But I also am very sad about the fact man rapes Nature on daily basis. Let hedgehogs live woods. Freedom to hedgehogs of every nation, land and clime!

  • @chocolatehobnob101: He's getting a monthly bath because he needs it. He may not like it but it's needed in order to keep him clean and keep his skin from getting really dry and causing him discomfort. That's like saying you won't give your kids a shower or bath because they don't like it. Just as I said before, it's needed in order to keep them clean and from getting sick from the bacteria covered things they touch. Grow a pair of balls and stop being a pussy.

  • what is the red stuff on him is it blood>

  • @mishka28061 how do u know

  • Killers, soap damage the animal's nasal system.

  • A bath is fine for the hedgehog but you should never put soap in the water so that the animal gets soap in it's eyes, nose and mouth. You are being negligent to the hedgehog's safety.

  • Fucking Adorable.

  • awww so cute

  • @isas55 not if its baby soap

  • and soap's bad for them!
