@ Kerfuddle- mate that is a lovely image (in the mind, i mean) and a really nice private thought to share. It will always make me think of my home County Down (for obvious reasons), the vast expanses, and the thoughts of a real type of freedom of centuries/ millennia past.

Vaughan Williams did so much to preserve the traditional and folk musics of the British Isles, and i am glad he has his place at Westminster Abbey, among many other greats from these lands.

Being over patriotic i suppose but when i hear this music i think of Britain alone in 1940...Churchill....Brave Spitfire pilots getting airborne to defend us against overwhelming odds ...and finally Churchill being laid to rest over 20 years later..i dont know why it just does ......
