That is NOT what the district says. A teacher uning professional judgment does NOT have to go on. They can modify and adapt and even add lessons if hey will help meet the objectives.  The district memorandum of understanding provides that kind of flexibility.

And your argument is contradictory: if kids are having trouble with a concept they would NOT do well on "standardized tests" (which tests are you these?). It is in the district's interest to allow the kind of flexibility in the MOU.

The curriculum has never been this regulated in the past so when BellevueTeacher says"The curriculum does work" she/he is speaking about prior to the scripted lessons.

When have studens EVER choosen curriculum taught in their classes? I agree that Bellevue does push its students hard and teachers should feel free to do so. It seems the MOU allows that kind of freedom to back off as long as objectives are being met.

You ever take an AP class before? Try it. All the classes are beginning to feel just like AP classes, in which the focus is for you to pass a test that really inst that significant in life, other than learning something. And the worst part is that, unlike AP classes, the curriculum is not something that the students can choose to have or not in their classes.
