  • Great concept!

Except... those drums in the clip don't sound like 60's Abbey Road drums to me.

And the guy hitting the snare, kick, and the crash isn't hitting things remotely the way someone does when they're in the thick of the groove. He looks more like a tech than a player.

    Too bad.

  • save up your money and record your drum track in Abbey Road, four hour session can't be that bad, £700 or something

  • the cymbals and hats just don't sound real when triggered

  • All of that and you only get to see him hit a tambourine?

  • I like the backround music a lot! was it made just for this video?

  • looks like they never heard of addictive drums retro...

  • Looks like they've got a set of ADAM monitors in there

  • @gscottsyndicate

you bet that they need a different approach when recording for samples, than in "real life" - they said in the video, that they'd purposely used different angles and spots and velocities to record many different samples.

I think the result is great - that justifies the maybe technical approach to the sample recording method.

  • @Wardog2008 I would have to Strongly disagree w/ that statement!! I've been there & tried it, & it ain't that simple or the same! & it doesn't ruin anything, it's no different than running a $5k vintage guitar thru a $300 pedal, it's an effect. Why do drums have to just stay "drums"?? That's boring....Imagine if the drums on "Come Together" were recorded like "normal"...no dampening/no effects/etc...? it would've been just another Beatles song!! Thankfully they didn't do that.... = )

  • As much of a Beatles Fan that I am, please don't get it twisted as to think that Ringo/Abbey Road, were the 1st to come up w/ the Tea Towel drum muffle trick!! They just simply became the most famous!! Ringo just liked Tea Towels, but as my Father, & Many other drummers I've met from the 50's-present said, they would use anything from pillow cases/blankets/wallets/hand, wash towels/t shirts/etc..., Who "really" came up w/ it, we'll probably never know!! Nonetheless, it's a brilliant sound!!

  • Damn, this is great! All the 'original' equipment too...doesn't get any better. This is the way I like to do drum mic'ing. Thanks for the posts.

  • Is there anyway i can get this track? Sounds so cool
