I was trying to teach myself and decided to look for other opinions on how to do this... I'm trying to clean up Saving Private Ryan so you don't hear gunshots, only voice.

@cbtcafe It does seem annoying, but there's a reason you need to launch the Noise Removal plugin twice. The first time, you've only selected a small portion of empty audio, creating a profile for the plugin to base it's effect on. Once the plugin window closes, you're now free to select your entire clip, or whatever portion of the audio you want the background noise removed from. If you open a new instance of Audacity, that noise profile still exists, so you can skip the fist step.

Thanks.
Completely didn't understand the whole window-closing thing when you get the profile. Thanks a million!

@littlerockmarkinsaw I know, that gets me too. I haven't tried in the latest version so it could be fixed. I recorded this movie last summer so there's a good chance it's been updated. Hey, it's free and evolving. I can work with that:-)
