Damn good! If only you had been given the money to produce a version of War of the Worlds instead of Mr Spielberg. The movie probably wouldn't have contained, a bad Father, a Son with daddy issues or the screaming brat of a Daughter spoiling most of the Movie while an Alien Invasion with huge FX budget goes on in the Background.

the gistening of wet leathers in the heather hmm... The martians were nothing but disembodied brains with tenticles to "drive" the tripod machines they did have to use their own eyes to see, not some implant camera. reminds me of the Daleks in Dr. Who. except the Daleks used thier machines for eyes they were really brains. Martains, like all brains are big cowards hiding in the pit shooting guns at people.

I just read the book a few hours ago, and I like how you've kept so close to it. The Martian is a perfect representation of Wells' description, right down to the 'beak'. And the Heatray is right too, something invisible and instant. All sorts of details have been put in. Pace of events is obviously a bit slow, though, like an old silent movie, but without the rapid movements of actors to arrest the viewer's attention.
