Awe, I wanna go back in time and relive these shows!
-
what was the name of the song she sang on here story book show??

This began as an occasional series of specials in January 1958 (as "SHIRLEY TEMPLE'S STORYBOOK"), and became a weekly series (as "THE SHIRLEY TEMPLE SHOW") in the fall of 1960. Some of the initial episodes were staged live, while several were later recorded on videotape, and most of them were filmed [41 were produced in all]. I admire Ms. Temple for saving what episodes she could...

i wondeer why noone uploads the episodes here? the dvd's ARE around.

for all wondering about it and someone posted it, this series was done live on tape not filmed; the color quailty is excellent from that era becaue of the cameras used at that time, costuming, the lighting, studio set design, etc. This was the beginning just about of very limited video special effects. To do the same production today would be very expensive, thats why not much like this is seen anymore.

I remember Winnie-the-Pooh,Madeline,Land of Oz-and The Reluctant Dragon,Rapunzel,The Princess and the Goblins,The Prince and the Pauper,The Wild Swans...and realizing when I saw this series how long ago films like Dimples and Heidi were made.

I am astounded at the video quality and color for a production of the late 50's/early 60's. I assume these episodes were all recorded on film (vs. video)?
Anyway, as much as this sounds like an intentional plug, I can't wait to get my hands on this DVD. I still remember seeing one of the episodes with Shirley Temple in it (was she in all of them?) and needing my parents to explain to me how little Shirley Temple, from all those reruns of 1930's movies I'd seen, could suddenly be a grown woman!

I didn't realize that Winnie the Pooh was first seen on television/film back in 1960.

@0410barb not sure what you were trying to say here, but you can also find the dvd's at shirleytempledotcom
At the very end of the video, there is a brief glimpse of the Terrible Clockman, an episode that burned itself into my brain when it aired in January 1961! When Shirley introduced it, she said, "This might be a little scary, but don't worry, I'll be right here with you!" At the time, It was perhaps the scariest thing I'd seen (age 10) -- will never forget the Clockman killing the clockmaker with his knife-like fingers (which were supposed to point out the time on his clockface)!
