This is my 1978 Honda CX 500. After the first test run I wasn't happy with it. So last week I replaced the stator with a new one. But it still doesn't sound well. It starts on the left cylinder. When the engine warms up, the right cylinder comes in. From then on it runs fine.
Candy Sapphire Blue, same as mine, and same starting problem! I used the idle speed knob to raise idle speed significantly and she starts first prod every time. Fix permanently by bending the fast idle link slightly (tank off) that operates from the choke, so starting with a bit of extra throttle. You can set the idle knob normally after that. Best of luck - they are a nice old bike!

Sounds good, once warmed up. Looks in great condition. Try the plugs, I've had a dud, straight from the box. Check HT leads, then carby clean. She's a beauty.
