PS2 Underrated Gem: Ico

This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS2.

OK, here it is the most overrated underrated gem of all time. I'm not saying it's a bad game. in fact its a damn great game, but I am saying that it's kinda iffy to put on as a lesser known game after every gaming magazine and website under the sun has given this their top spot for most underrated game of all time.

Ico is an awesome game, and should be experienced by everyone, but as far as it being lesser know, or overlooked, I don't think it falls into that category anymore.

When it first hit it was definitely overlooked, but now that people have been tooting their horns for years about this game, I think that most gamers have heard of this game.

Ico is a great game, a short one, but great nonetheless, and I don't want people to think I'm criticizing the game for not being as good as it's said to be, because it is an awesome game. I'm just saying that it's not exactly unknown by any stretch of the imagination.

Ico is only available on the PS2.

Also look into Shadow of the Colossus it's semi-sequel. Shadow sold well enough to be a greatest hit, so I won't be putting it on my underrated gems list, but it's also a great game.

@kizzybixum Is there anything around that she can stand on? Sometimes she needs a bit of help so if theres a box around then you can push that near to where you want her to climb so she can use it to stand on. When you use the call action will you're on the ledge above then you can help her up. She will not climb ropes but I think she can climb ladders but sometimes you have to encourage her to follow by either dragging or calling her. :)

How do you get the girl to climb things? When I play, all she does is stand around. She can't jump or climb, or do anything, really. Please help.

ICO is a great game but part of that greatness comes from inspiration it got from Zelda. I think that it obvious. Similary many other great games learn from games from the past. It is not bad thing to harness good things. This is why games like Ape Escape are so good. They concentrate on things that work.

I think that ICO is a masterpiece. It has elements that reminds me of Zelda and Kingdom Hearts and the environment of the game feels very Myst- and Riven-ish to me. Zelda is a series of great games, Kingdom Hearts is a series of great games and ICO is a standalone, epic, beautiful game that I don't think should be compared to Zelda simply due to the fact that Zelda probably has a bigger fanbase and therefore will blindly be looked upon as a superior game, even if it was not. You referred to the wooden stick as a Deku stick, clearly an indication to your belief that ICO is Sony's attempt at producing something Zelda-ish.

@Icolossu New? You are talking a game released more than 10 years ago. And all i said was that a game released few years before ICO had a scenario where you escaped the castle with princess and they helped each others in order to do so. And yes, you could use a stick as a weapon on that game also. Please note, that i do like ICO, but not as much as that other game i`m talking about. It is OK if you prefer ICO...
