Thank you for the video. I read all three languages and it makes so much sense to me when there is the original poem presented.

I'd heard this piece some 20 yrs back but had now, in video, and with translation, it has more meaning. The sound on this video is very good too. I wished I had attended the CSO concerts more during the heyday of Solti but was too poor then. Now, with money, he's gone from the scene.

Yvonne Minton is one of the great mezzo-altos of the 20th century. --this is one of the most expressive moving interpretations in a class with Ferrier

Silvertoned soprano, golden horns, wonderful sunset visuals, orchestral master Solti--oh thank you so MUCH!!!

Every note of Solti's orchestra is totally convincing and utterly clear in its' intention. The singer is an Angel of Annunciation who lays her finger on our beating hearts and astonishes as she spins the lyric into a sheet of holy flame. And the divine Gustav drives us almost serenely past the places of heartbreak. Here, Mahler will dissolve his soul into a darkening cosmos yet glowing with brilliant stars.
One of the lovliest performances I've heard of this piece. And now, onto Part 2.

How beautiful this is? One of Mahler's finest masterpiece! I also love Kathleen Ferrier's version very much.

I love this song - have a slight preference for a baritone performer (Thomas Hampson) but love Yvonne Minton's voice.

How beautiful! Really appreciate the effort you've made. Just wonder if you'd work on the other five songs of Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde". Sincerely look forward to it. Thanks again for uploading this beautiful video.

This version is truncated.
There are still two more verses.
The last ends with;
My heart is serene and waits its final hour.
The well loved earth everywhere
Blooms in spring and grows green anew.
Everywhere and always the horizon
glimmers blue, Forever, forever...forever, forever...

This is just part 1 of the whole video. It only contains the first 10 minutes of the 32-minute long Song of the Earth. Parts 2, 3 and 4 are coming soon.
