The alternative would be not to waste time talking with them . Thats why Bush didnt even bother with this . You see how well Obama's speech did ! they didnt except it . Obama has no experience thats why he's this naive .

Reality is: American Presidents come and go. but ayatollahs are always in charge and in power. better relation comes under two condition for america to become islamic or for iran to become democratic and neither will happen. so it is a dilemma. putin, ahmadinejad and chinese have a lot in common and they don't like democracy and with the corruptions in capitalism gives them more momentum as winston churchil said the enemy is within. Not wasting time to talk would only be useful if you do anythink constructive instead. Promoting fanatism, and hate towards the USA and western democracy, around the world is not really helping to stop Iran pursuing a nuclear bomb.

Some facts: Ahmadinejad never said "wipe off the map". It was a misinterpreted. The Iranian regime is suggesting a referendum where the people choose whether Israel should continue as a state.

The President in Iran has no real power. The Supreme Leader Khamenei is in charge of the budget, military etc. He has given a religious decree that Iran will never produce a n-bomb.

You can't compare Iran to Hitler. Iran is against Zionists...not Jews.

@RealSchoggikuchen: You do not need to be a nuclear scientist to know that Iran is indeed pursuing a nuclear bomb. Hitler threatened to wipe out the Jews before he killed 6 million of them. Today Ahmadinejed is doing the same and Europe especially Germany, France ,Spain are sleeping even though Iran already possesses ballistic missiles that can reach major European capitals. What a shame!. Yes I should prefer Bush to Obama when it comes to security of the world.

Whether Obamas tactic will work we will see, however, that Bush's failed miserably is a proven fact. So what is your alternative?

Obama just doesnt get it . He thinks Bush was all wrong with his tactics . And somehow his nice words will make a difference with Iran . It will not change a thing . An intelligent person would already know they will not change direction . Infact Iran has already shown no intertest in his speech

But the religious fanatic is out of office! Bush's presidency is no longer, therefore there might be a new hope for diplomacy now.

I am really hoping the new american administration is doing its job better than the last one, because I also would be really frigthend by an Islamic Republic or Iran with an atomic bomb.
