I didn't say that it makes them worse. I said "I prefer". I don't think it makes you a bad musician to learn from books. What I was talking about was my style of playing and how I learn if you didn't notice I used words like, "I" and "Myself". Are my abilities hindered from not studying books?... maybe... maybe not... is there any way of measuring this result?... no.

@billgeezeriommi I don't think he was necessarily talking shit about rap itself, more lame rap rock bands being passed off as heavy metal, don't forget it was post grunge, and the the nu metal era when this was recorded, and as a fan of classic metal he was probably pissed off at all the coverage those bands got, while great, real metal bands were often brushed under the carpet by MTV, and the rock media.
