    More people are employed by private businesses than corporations, becuz private businesses supply MORE jobs.

    So then, private businesses supply MORE entry level jobs than corporations.

    entry level jobs are just a fancy name for THE FIRST JOB someone has after highschool or college. it could be at walmart... or it could be book-keeping at the local supermarket!!!

    i hate the CORPORATIONS as much as you do. how you stick it to them is by empowering local businesses to steal THEIR customers

    That is also why the middle class are getting tax cuts. The businesses you listed serve the middle class. If the middle class has money they will buy these services and then the companies will be able to pay more and hire more. Corporations are a major part of this because the majority of entry level jobs are supplied by Walmart. If we put the burden on the companies it will cost the taxpayer less while causing all businesses a minimum amount of harm.

    maybe corporations can pay $9 an hour... but...

    can the local restaurant pay $9? NO!

    can the local deli pay $9? NO!

    can the local thrift store pay $9? NO!

    can the local mom & pop store pay $9? NO!

    can the local gas station pay? NO!

    STOP OBSESSING ABOUT CORPORATIONS!

    the MAJORITY of people are employed by local NON-CORPORATION businesses. if you raise minimum wage... it is these struggling businesses you will destroy... leaving only wealthy corporations to gobble up their customers

    Almost all entry jobs are provided large corporations like Walmart, Nordstrom, Target, Ross etc. These corporations can afford to pay their workers $9. If a business cannot afford to hire more workers at $9 then it obviously doesn't need another worker. Paying people below minimum wage is just going to put them on welfare. SO how do you propose to solve that issue then? They are working but they are still on welfare. Does that sound right to you? I sure ain't paying my taxes for those people.

    100% of the people DO NOT work for walmart!!!

    the majority of people in this country are employed by private business... aka... the mom & pop businesses all across this country that wal-mart is squeezing. if you raise the minimum wage... it is these squeezed businesses that will have to lay-off.

    if an employer CANNOT pay $6 an hour... how is he going to pay $9 an hour?

    Washington = $9.19 minimum wage = 7.7% Unemployment

    Minnesota = $6.15 minimum wage = 5% Unemployment

    You obviously did not do some thinking before responding. If you raise the minimum wage to keep up with COLA since there is high inflation it wont increase Walmart's costs very much. Walmart is a corporation, they aren't going to say omg i have to pay an extra $1 for thousands of people so I will destroy my business by not expanding in the US. ALL those jobs you mentioned are entry level it would cost twice as much to bring foreigners than to hire locally. It seems you like paying for welfare.

    fair is not about what I think... or about what you think... or about what obama thinks.

    if you raise minimum wage... it will cost more to hire an american to do a job. you agree? good.

    this will cause walmart to be pissed, who will then look for alternatives to hiring an american. they will shift more labor overseas where there is no minimum wage... and if certain labor can not be shifted overseas (store clerk, cashier, etc.) they will hire more foreigners thru HB-1 visa

    Why would anyone do that? That's wouldn't be equilibrium with the employer's ability to pay that wage? You clearly enjoy sensationalising matters without first listening. If Walmart brought in 10% more revenue this year than last and its employees are on welfair because they aren't paid enough, don't you think its fair to raise the minimum wage so Walmart can ensure its workers can make a living? Or would you prefer those workers stay on welfare because you must love paying for it right?
